eBay This is an auction site. You can click about and see what they have on offer, and then register as a bidder as you like. It takes a while to get used to, but worth the effort.

Amazon Books & CD's The worlds best(?) site for buying books. Works well and books usually arrive in Australia within two weeks. You have to set yourself up as a customer first, with credit card details.

CD Sales Specialises in CD's.

Wishlist Shopper Plenty to buy here from flowers through to books, wine and wedding gifts. Takes a while to get used to it, but OK in the end. Persist.

Internet Shopping This clean site has around 30 categories of shopping, and 500 individual shops to peruse.

Dymocks Books An easy to use Australian book buying and books review site.

Angus & Robertsons Bookstore Australias leading bookstore chain. Look for it here before you buy through Amazon or other overseas organisations. (As good as they are). Prices usually much cheaper than at the store.

Pharmacy on Line We don’t know much about the area of online pharmacies, but this site came recommended, so we have added it here for your consideration. It's based in Brisbane, and seems to be comprehensive. Feeback from users would be welcomed.

Collins Book Shops This specialist on line bookselling site from Collins is rated very high on usability

ebay Australia The worlds biggest such site has an Australian presence now. They claim 8000 categories of goods for sale.

Choice Magazine This is the on line version of the highly respected consumers CHOICE magazine. Its well worth a check here before you buy. You can buy just about anything over the net these days, and also attend auctions for everything from houses to old cars and vinyl records. We have yet to find any site that is immediately easy to use for the first time user, and suggest that you persist until you get into the swing of it. Everyone eventually does. In general you should know that shopping over the net will require a credit card (Visa, Mastercard etc). If you havent got a card, see your bank.To protect yourself, (if you feel that the card details might be misused), you can have the bank set a pre agreed limit, of say $1000, on the card. However the Australian Code of Conduct for Electronic Funds Transfer, limits your liabilty to a maximum of A$50, if you can establish that you didnt order or receive the goods you've been billed for. You will find many web sites simply awful and hard to use. They will sometimes take about half a dozen clicks to get you to anything useful. When you do persist, and find a good site, or service, remember to save it as a 'favourite' for next time.
